Council for Excellence in Education (CEE)
The CEE was created to enhance the health information management (HIM) profession, plan for its future through education, and provide HIM professionals with a way to get involved in the process.
Purpose
Improve and adapt the education strategy for health information and related professions, focused on future opportunities and challenges. Responsible for fostering support and adoption of new initiatives and improvements to curriculum, credentials, academic programs and resources. Focus on the changing needs of the students and working professionals and consider innovative ways of providing world class education in HIM.

Informs AHIMA’s workforce development strategy.
Student Advisory Workgroup
Serves as a focus group with AHIMA’s leaders, members and staff, and help to staff various roles at the AHIMA Annual Conference.
Making Dreams Come True Award
The Making Dreams Come True Distinguished Educator Award recognizes distinguished educators in HIM. Consider nominating an individual that makes a difference for the Making Dreams Come True Distinguished Educator Award.
The Council for Excellence in Education presents the award at the Assembly on Education Symposium, the premier conference for health information and informatics educators and the primary forum for leadership in HIM education. The recognition is accompanied by complimentary symposium registration.
The 2020 recipient will be announced at the AOE Symposium.
